Having spent a lovely afternoon in Teruel and looking at all it had to show us, we left bright and early on wonderful road, it was flat, windey and went through some beautiful gauges and valleys, the wagons struggled keeping up to us and gave us a ‘honk’ of thanks when we waved them passed this made us jump and wobble everytime.
We soon passed the border into the valencia region which made us feel nearly home. Then we hit the biggest hill of our trip, 4 miles long and 8% in steepness, on every turn we gave a moan of disapprovement until we reached the very top and the road went straight.
We we’re supposed to be staying in Landete but on reaching this town found nothing there but goats and their herders, we had no opption but to carry on a further 30 miles to Utiel, this was fine as the weather was warm and the road relatively straight and quiet. From leaving Landete to reaching Utiel we passed nothing but grapes vines, spanning miles around us it was amazing.
