The hotel that we had last night was sheer luxury, I was quite sad to be leaving it and not spending another night there. Our destination today was Ayora about 45 miles along the road. It was probably one of the shortest days but it has been the hardest for both of us. The hills were steep and long, we had blustery winds coming at us from all directions catching us off guard and nearly pushing us in to the verge. After 30 miles we both had legs that felt like lead and really had to urge and encourage each other to go on.
We manage to slope into Ayora and crossed the town marker hand in hand, all we had to do now was find accommodation, the tourist info was closed but we asked in a bar and was pointed in the direction of a ‘casa rural’ (B&B). Here we have been left to our own devices, which is nice as it shows trust, just a shame there’s no hot water.
Hi there, Great to read about your bike trip challenge. I really admire you for doing it and congratulations on the 20th anniversary of your transplant! I received a kidney transplant 5 years ago and my husband and I now spend our winters in Spain, near to Denia on the Costa Blanca. We are here until 30th April so please let us know where you intend to finish your bike ride and if we can (& if you would like us to!!) we will come and cheer you!! Kind regards. Belinda & Roger Crick
